Quality Plants Start with Healthy Soil

Quality Plants Start with Healthy Soil
April 22, 2020 by SA Kiwi Growers Association

“At Gold Tree Farms, quality plants start with healthy soil.” This is according to farm manager, Malcolm Deacon, who runs the nursery as well as the gold kiwi orchards on the farm near White River, Mpumalanga.

From seedling propagation through to the customer taking delivery Gold Tree Farms takes the utmost care to ensure that plants of the highest quality are supplied into the market. Their skilled nursery team leaves no stone unturned to make sure all plants are well cared for during their stay.

The nursery can hold up to 45000 plants a season and they pride themselves on the quality of the plants supplied.

“We work with an approach geared to improving soil health and biological diversity. Composting and Vermicast teas are made on the farm and delivered to the soil and plants at regular intervals. We are a herbicide free environment and work to put back all that we can into building our soils for the future.” says Malcolm.

“Our rich white clover cover crop ensures that all bee life is well sustained.”

Gold Tree Farms has supplied dozens of farms across South Africa with top quality kiwifruit plants and will continue to do so as the industry grows and demand for good rootstocks increases.
